Starting from the popular seaside town of Teignmouth, we follow the promenade for a while before climbing up to walk through Mules Park. Leaving the park with its panoramic views across Teignmouth and Shaldon, we follow the SW Coast Path and briefly, the main road to the edge of Dawlish, where we take a country lane to the quaint village of Holcombe with its many thatched cottages. Leaving the village and crossing the main road, we follow Smugglers Lane down to the seafront with its 3km sandy beach. Here you have the choice of walking along the promenade by Brunel's Railway or along the beach (tide allowing) back to the start.

Caution: The promenade along the railway can be dangerous at high tides in rough weather with strong on-shore winds, so check the state of the tide and wind before setting off.

A most enjoyable walk. We started from Holcombe as it was easier to park and free. I really do think you need to mention the winds and tide in your description as this walk is impossible if there is strong on shore wind and the tide even halfway in.
