These foothills of Lakeland rise from the Vale of Lorton to around 1350 feet. The fells here are well fenced off to determine grazing rights and these fences provide a sure means of navigation. The walker is well provided for with gates and stiles, even on sections which lie on access land and off the public right of way. There is no particularly steep climbing involved on this walk yet it affords all round views of Lakes and Fells which are usually achieved through much greater effort.
