The walk begins easily on a well-surfaced bridleway before dropping down on rougher ground by a stream and then up to the A54. A further descent follows before a gradual climb on the Cheshire / Derbyshire boundary to cross the main road again and join the bridleway that started at the Cat & Fiddle.
