The walk starts from the river car park in the historic village of Dunblane with its magnificent Cathedral. Cross the B8033 and pick up the trail to Bridge of Allan, the route takes you alongside the golf course and down a forest trail bordered by ancient stone walls. Follow the meandering River Allan along intriguing paths until you arrive at the main road. Turn right and cross the bridge. On the return leg there are wonderful long views towards the Wallace Monument before rejoining the outward route back to Dunblane.

For a little variety, and to incorporate the Glen Road cliff track and the high Wharry Bridge, on the return to Waymark 4, turn right and climb gently (signed Dunblane by Glen road. Pass by Drumdruills and shortly after take the left turn at the T junction towards Badgergate and then on to Dunblane. This adds about 2km to the walk and some fine glen and distant views. The River Car Park at Dunblane is now very busy with commuter cars and the Cathedral car park offers an alternative.

Lovely walk, nice and safe for dogs. Mine were safe to be off their leads on all the off road parts, and would be good for a family.
