This scenic route strikes north from Moffat, climbs Great Hill at 1,527ft and crosses the head of the Devil's Beef Tub, thence onto Annanhead Hill and over moorland before a gentle descent along a good track. This is an airy upland walk with some wonderful panoramic views from the heights.

We did this walk on 13th August 2009. Some instructions are unclear. 2: On reaching Ericstane Farm go right (do not cross burn over humped-back bridge) and use the wooden bridge by the ford. 5: At the buildings of Corehead go through the gate to the right of the white cottage (there is a sign), walk up the left side of field and take the first gate. Use the footbridge to cross the stream and look for the field-gate at left of conifer plantation. 6: Could make no sense of this. However, we thoroughly enjoyed the walk. Highly recommended.

We did this walk on Sunday 01/03/2009. The start point is now a green corrugated iron structure - not red as in the photo included in the description! There is also a large parking area a little furher along the lane from here.
