A walk along the Kennet and Avon Navigation is always pleasant, but this section has a parallel stream, the Holy Brook, which makes a circular walk easily possible. The start point is on the outskirts of Reading, because there happens to be a convenient car park there, right on the Holy Brook. From there we walk east to a point where we can join the canal and then go west along the river bank and then the canal towpath. Eventually we cut back from the canal and return along the Holy Brook again. The terrain is of course flat and there are no stiles, but there are three footbridges with quite a few steep steps. The towpath is wide and an easy walk; the initial Holy Brook path and the riverside path are narrow and a little more uneven.
