Twigmoor Woods are owned by the local Scawby Estate, who have kindly allowed public access to certain parts. In May and early June, the woods are thick with rhododendrons in full bloom. As you walk around the woods, you will occasionally happen across one of a number of large lakes. These are known as the Scawby Gull Ponds, after the large populations of black-headed gulls which once bred here.

Our walk takes us straight down to the bottom of the woods and then meanders back to the top, visiting the gull ponds, with a boardwalk over marshy areas.

This is a perfect dog walk, though the landowners stipulate that your dog remain on the lead, so please respect their wishes.
