Inspired by David and Chris Stewart's original walk, I rewrote it in 2008 to encourage access by public transport. You can start from Denham Railway Station, or Denham Village or Denham Country Park by road, or from Uxbridge Underground Station. The different lengths and access instructions are all included below, so you can put together a number of different walks from within the one offered.
Considering it is all within the M25, it is a surprisingly quiet and mostly rural walk. Denham is a lovely village to dawdle through in anyone's book! Canals and canal-boats fascinate many walkers and this canal, the Grand Union, is the Daddy of them all. Hopefully you will see some activity at one or more of the locks. At 11 feet deep, Denham Lock is the deepest on the whole canal. Gongoozle away!
Denham Village provides the best pub options. There is also the Harefield near Waymark 24 and the Coy Carp Inn at Coppermill, half a mile up the towpath from Waymark 27; see Additional Information.
