A very enjoyable walk in Glen Strathfarrar, a tributary glen to Strathglass, between Beauly and Cannich.
The early part of the route follows the River Farrar (a good salmon river), giving nice views of the salmon pools. This is a green area, clothed in birch and alder (the latter the angler's friend). At a small power station the route climbs to join the Neaty Burn, which again offers views of lovely pools on a smaller scale. From Waymark 06 the route is above the treeline. Most people walk only to the little dam on the burn (Waymark 07); we climbed a bit more, on a steeper path, to enjoy the mountain views.
This is a good family walk to the dam at Waymark 07, but steeper to Waymark 08. Boots are advised if you go beyond the dam. Dogs should be on a lead. Refreshments etc are available at the Struy Hotel, near the car park.
