The Sandstone Trail S to N (Part 1): Whitchurch - Bickerton

The Trail begins just a short distance from the centre of Whitchurch and very soon goes along the towpath of the Shropshire Union Canal. This is left for quiet meadows and at the end of this section, a climb onto the first of the dramatic sandstone ridges which are the essence of the Trail. The advantage of doing this Trail from the south is that the sun will be behind you.

Well done to Jane for doing the Trail in reverse and working out the directions!

We walked the sandstone trail it is well signed, we got a bit misled but guessed correctly. We were a bit disappointed at the end (we did Frodsham to whitchurch) because we could not see the end / begging marker in Jubilee Gardens. Perhaps we were tired from two days walking. The Pheashant Inn at Burwardlsey is a great place to stay.
