Where the first section of the Trail began quietly from Whitchurch and finished with a climb to the sandstone escarpment of Bickerton Hill, this section is the reverse - a climb to the Trail's highest point, followed by beautiful woodland paths across the Peckforton Hills and past the magnificent Beeston Castle on its prominence. Once the Shropshire Union Canal is crossed, there follows a series of quiet field-paths with one final climb for a backward look over the route.
