Some of the most dramatic landscapes can be found in the areas around the upper Coquet, in the National Park.
The outward journey follows an old drovers' route: The Street, Windy Gyle and Russell's Cairn on the Scottish border. The uphill gradients are long but only the final section to the summit is steep. On a fine day the views in all dirctions are incomparable.
The going is generally good underfoot, but in adverse conditions route-finding may be difficult, so choose settled weather for this walk.
