Thornbury - Mumbleys Lane - Wood Well - Stock Farm - Yew Tree Farm - Thornbury Castle

Thornbury is a few miles north of Bristol and not too far from the Severn. The walk takes you out of the town over gentle hills, with some great views of the Severn, both bridges and Wales. You return passing the castle, which is still in use as a hotel.

Walked this on 01 October 2018 which was a beautiful sunny day. It was perfect for my group of active pensioners who really enjoyed it. All the waymarks were there to see. The ones that are easy to miss (because you can't see them until you are on top of them!) are numbers 10 and 13. Get these right then relax and enjoy the walk!

We did this walk for the second time today. Last time we were caught in a hailstorm - this afternoon the weather was perfect. Good views across the Severn and no problems with the instructions. I do always take the pictures and the map and my husband takes a stick to remove brambles from the stiles!

Quite possibly the worst walk instructions I've ever followed. Lucky I didn't take my kids with me as we would have been in trouble.. Instructions vague and some are incorrect . Think it was 18...was just wrong ( turn right for a few yards and over a stile,,,, ???? We had to give up and just find our way home the long way round on the roads. 2.5 hour walk took 4.5 hours
