Ruinous Morton Castle enjoys a superb situation on a bluff above the loch of the same name. The walk starts above the village of Carronbridge and ascends through woodland on the Buccleuch Estate to visit the castle. A steady descent returns via a lane.

A nice and easy walk through woodland to Morton Castle. The views of the Castle were well worth the walk. We had to retrace our steps back to the beginning due to the ongoing work in the forest but that didn't spoil our walk. A picnic is recommended at the castle.
