The walk starts in the small village of Thurlton, north of Beccles and close to Reedham Ferry over the Yare. At first glance, the footpaths shown on the OS maps look as though they would take us on a mud scramble across soggy marshland, but none of it! The track from Low Thurlton to Haddiscoe Bridge is grass and very well-defined. There is the option at the bridge of walking a few hundred metres to Broadland's oldest pub, The Bell at St Olave's for lunch. The return is a little trickier of navigation as the path is not well-trodden, but is grassy and dry-ish throughout. The final rise to Thurlton barely rates as a hill, but in these parts...
