This is a truly wonderful walk starting from the village hall and public car park in the lovely Derbyshire village of Ticknall. Taking field-paths, tracks, woodland paths and lanes, it visits beautiful National Trust parkland where stands the huge and stately Calke Abbey. Betty's Pond is a tranquil, watery environment flanked by trees of variable hues and shapes and which runs into the extensive Staunton Harold Reservoir. The whole area is enhanced by established woods and new plantations, a joy to behold.
