Although only a short walk, this route takes you to many spectacular locations around the Tintagel Coastline and offers breathtaking views of this historic landscape.

The route starts by heading away from the bustling high street and its crowds of tourists to follow a quiet path out towards the village church which is set back from the main village and sits inside an ancient earthwork close to the clifftop. The route now joins the long distance South West Coast Path which leads you along the clifftops to the English Heritage entrance to Tintagel castle ruins itself. A worthwhile optional detour will take you up to the ruins on the island at a charge. For those into history this is may be the highlight of the whole walk! The route briefly passes the crowds of tourists again as you head along the main path to Tintagel before heading off along the South West Coast Path again this time aiming for Barras Nose.

Barras Nose is a rocky outcrop slightly further along the coast from Tintagel but offers a near 360 degree panorama of open ocean, cliffs, rocks and of course the castle ruins on Tintagel island itself. The route continues along the coast before piking up a footpath which takes you through a farm and suddenly appears at the bottom of the high street where you can walk up the full length to see its many interesting features; the main one being The Old Post Office which is simply delightful!

Walked 17.07.23. This is a fantastic walk, easy to do with good directions. There were a few issues finding the start point and it appears a new housing estate may have been built so would recommend the author checks the walk for accuracy. The views are breath taking and this walk has so much to offer it is highly recommended. The coastal section around Tintagel is so lovely as is Barras Nose. 10/10

Easy to follow and a lovely walk. Thank you. Note the lock gates have been restored towards Helebridge. At waymark 12 due to a cliff fall the path diverts along the road footpath for 100m before continuing.
