Walk starts from historic Towneley Hall which was home of Towneleys for nearly five centuries. Hall is well worth a visit with its museum, exhibits, Victorian kitchen, priest hole, chapel, long gallery, gardens and café. Upon leaving Townley grounds the walk passes through Kiln Wood, over golf course and via Copy Clough, ascending to the wind-powered Singing Ringing Tree Sculpture which is one of the four sculptures within the Panopticons arts project. Its location at about 400m offers great views over Lancashire Fells. From this high point the route descends via Dyneley and Mill Walk back to Towneley via its grounds.

Mapped as 7.2 miles but had to park on the car park away from Townely Hall as the one near the hall was only short stay. We got geographically challenged between 7 and 8 as we couldn't file the stile into the field and the path just took us straight into the woods. So the distance on walking world is prob more accurate than the GPX files the walk converted to .

Interesting that when GPX file is obtained in Outdoor Active it becomes 5.1 miles and in Komoot becomes 5.5 miles. Walking 13/4/22 so will have to track it and see where the differences have come from!!
