This is a circular walk through the four villages that make up the collective name of the ‘Trimdons’. In turn Trimdon Grange, Trimdon Colliery, Trimdon Station and Trimdon Village along with Station Town are included on the route of this almost flat walk in the former coal mining area just to the south west of the new town of Peterlee. The walk starts from Trimdon Grange and takes to the fields and lanes that link in turn the Grange the Colliery and the Station before intersecting the first of two railway paths linked by the village of Station Town. The second railway path passes through a corner of the picturesque Hurworth Dene Reservoir. From the reservoir to Trimdon Village is all lane and field walking. The final short lap from the village back to the Grange crosses the fledgling River Skerne close to its source.
