Turton and Entwistle and Wayoh Reservoirs

Starting near Turton Bottoms, just off the B6391, you come to the first of the stretches of water. Going more or less anti-clockwise around both resevoirs, looking at your map (you do have a map, don't you?) will give you some idea of the extent of the walk. If you require refreshments or food, then the Strawberry (or Strawbury)Duck Pub will quench your thirst and feed your hunger. It is one of the very best real ale pubs in the county. There are plenty of places to explore, but please take note of any restrictions that may be in force. There is a visitor centre at Jumbles Reservoir that provides booklets and information about the walks and the sculptures. You pass the sign for the centre as you leave Bromley Cross.

A good winter walk with well defined paths. However at Waymark 15/17 there is no footbridge! You can see where it was, and it may be possible to use stepping stones to cross the stream in dry weather, but not in January 2024 after so much rain.

Did this walk on 17/11/17. Like the previous commenter we started from Batridge Barn car park just south of Entwistle Reservoir - there are plenty of spaces and the pay and display system has not worked for years! The walk around both reservoirs is popular and very easy to follow. Entwistle is flat and and the paths are generally good, although there are muddy stretches. Lots of dog walkers when we went. Wayoh is a bit more undulating and the paths on the east side a bit rougher, but still good. Much quieter than Entwistle. The gem that joins the two halves of the walk is the Strawbury Duck pub. Still there, dog-friendly and serves excellent beer and food at reasonable prices. Great lunch stop. A great winter walk or family walk. Incidentally my GPS clocked it at 7 miles for the same route, but 2 and a half hours plus stops is easy going.

Enjoyed this walk on 28.10.06. No problems with route but strongly suggest parking at waymark 13-Batridge Barn Car Park-and starting walk from there. It is the Strawbury Duck Pub-not Strawberry.
