If Chrome Hill and Parkhouse Hill were 500 feet higher and in Scotland, they would be raved about by hill-walkers as two of the best short ridge walks around. But fortunately for those of us south of the border, they are right in the middle of the Peak District. This route ascends Chrome Hill up a long, airy ridge; there is no great exposure or danger but there are a couple of 'hands-on' rock moves and you get a great sense of achievement when you reach the top, before diving down and repeating the feat on Parkhouse Hill. It's then a short, flat walk back to Hollinsclough. What a great way to spend half a day.

The walk can however, be muddy after rain, so this is perhaps a walk for a summer's day, or after winter frosts or snow.

Probably more like a 3.5. Some on lead road walking but a lot of country walking away from roads, this must be balanced by an awful lot of livestock however
