From the Tyne Riverside Country Park visitor centre, we follow the Hadrian's Wall Trail towards Wylam along the Wylam Waggonway, to the birthplace of George Stephenson, famous for 'Stephenson's Rocket'.

At the cottage we begin our return through a delightful nature reserve on the banks of the Tyne. We continue back along the Tyne riverbank to the walk start.

The Tyne Riverside Country Park has a visitor centre and a play area. There's also a decent pub/restaurant called The Keelman.

Completed this walk on 15th July 2021. We started at the nearby caravan park so it was a few hundred yards before we got to waypoint 6. We had a tiny Min Pin with us and she did it fine. It was a hot day with just a little breeze. The whole walk was a delight. Even better at waypoint 1 when we found the pub was The Big Lamp Brewery! As we are into real ale it was a big bonus. Had a pint of Big Lamp Bitter which was spot on. So we passed Stephensons Cottage on the way back to the caravan. Great walk, thanks for putting it on.
