What a start and finish to a great walk: Coldharbour Mill, built as a spinning mill over 200 years ago. It was built by Thomas Fox to spin wool in 1799 but later on also produced worsted yarns. It also boasts being a rare example of Georgian architecture, along with industry and enterprise.

It was reopened in 1982 as a museum and still produces high quality worsted yarn on the period machines. There is also a licensed mill cafe and the mill shop which sells items only available at the mill.

The walk is very beautiful along the quiet country lanes, but then after the climb up the narrow track to the woods, look back and see the view down over the Culm Valley. Next there is the quick descent through the fields before the final walk along the river and back to the car park.

Lovely short walk, and we can recommend the toasties in the Coldharbour Mill Café. One point, there needs to be another instruction between waypoints 5 and 6 to turn left onto the ridge track. It's not obvious from the app map or the instructions currently (June 2018).

Walked 25.1.12.. Most enjoyable walk with great views. The section 4-6 certainly lived up to the 'very muddy' warning. Section 6-8 takes you through lovely beech woods, and these were alive with birds and birdsong - lots of chaffinches and a tree creeper seen. Bit muddy and slippery on the final stretch by the river and quite a bit of dog mess. Coldharbour Mill cafe was pretty good, both in terms of quality and value.
