Starting at the Information Centre, the walk passes the railway station, goes on a footpath and through a wood, before reaching the narrow lanes leading to Urswick. Further lanes over an unfenced common lead to the coast at Bardsea. From here a coastal path leads towards Ulverston, with a diversion inland. A disused canal is joined, which leads directly towards the town.
