Upton is a small broadland village close to Acle. It has a popular village pub called The White Horse and a small boat dyke connected to the River Bure.
This walk starts off at the staithe, follows the boat dyke to the River Bure and continues for just over half a mile along the river. On the opposite side is Clippesby Drainage Mill (general photo) which was built at some point in the 1800s but no longer has its sails.
The route then turns away from the river and follows a path through grazing marsh and woodland before taking narrow country lanes back to the staithe. A detour from these lanes can take you to the pub so as to include it in the walk.
