Although much of the circular route is along well-trodden and hard footpaths with trees, shrubs and grass on all sides, some is along pavements, flagstone paths and tarmac paths. Starting from the popular Bidston Hill conservation, the route takes you across the delightful and scenic ladies golf course, and then a pleasant downhill stroll through an urban area. You can then search for the secret river Fender beside the roaring motorway while following long hard paths to the shops just past the station. You then climb Bidston Hill and cross the popular picnic meadow (photo on the right), back to the car park.

This walk is suitable for teenagers, senior citizens, and anyone in-between. Excellent for dogs and good for buggies (although they will need carrying in places over Bidston Hill). Most of the walk is also good for wheelchairs except for Bidston Hill. Suitable footwear - anything flat soled will be fine, but there may be a few boggy bits on Bidston Hill after a period of rain. You should have no problems with wearing shorts. There is a chippy and food shop by Upton Station, which may have toilets. Children can enjoy farm animals, café and toilets and another picnic site at the free Tam O'Shanters Urban Farm where you park. There are no seats except for those on top of Bidston Hill.
