Visit to Historic Stafford Castle and Surrounding Area

Much of the walk is in open countryside with good views, including three counties from Stafford Castle and of Cannock Chase. A 'compass' near the castle points out many key points on the landscape. There are numerous information boards around the castle and grounds, with information on the history of the castle, including the 17th Century Civil War.

Wildlife seen includes grey squirrels, rabbits, blackbirds, wrens, robins, great tits, blue tits, flocks of geese, jackdaws, crows and buzzards.

The 877 bus route, Stafford Town Centre - Church Eaton / Penkridge - Brewood - Wolverhampton, stops near the start and end of the walk,
