This next walk then starts opposite Lydford castle. Well its called a castle it was actually a late medieval gaol. This 7.6 mile walk will take you through Lydford and out to the little hamlet of Lake where you will find the Bearslake Inn. You will cross Fernworthy Down on a BOAT but you won't see any waves as this is a Byeway Open to All Traffic. You would however be extremely unlucky to see a car. The return is via the Granite Way cycle track once a railway line to Lydford from Tavistock and then onto the moor hoping not to get lost in your search for the King Wall. You will pass through Nodden Gate and arrive back in Lydford via an ancient green lane. If you haven't been to Lydford before I can recommend a visit to the National Trust site.
