The 8th in a series of 15 walks along the West Devon Way. Walk 7 left the West Devon Way just up from Double Waters. Its a long uphill climb out of the valley so Walk 8 is going to start at the top of the hill. The walk starts by going down Brook Lane all the way to the edge of Tavistock. Its a quiet country lane and also a dead end so there should be minimal traffic. You will cross over the River Tavy and River Walkham twice including walking over the impressive Gem Bridge that is in the photograph. The return from Tavistock will take you over Whitchurch Down via The Pimple, Grenofen Tunnel and then a walk along the banks of the River Walkham passing under Gem bridge. A very varied walk allowing you to stop in Tavistock for lunch if you time it right.
