We follow forest tracks from Scotchcoulthard down into the southern edge of Wark Forest, passing areas that used to be farms before the land was taken by the Forestry Commission. Some super views across the forest can be had along the first section, then its woodland all the way to Hopealone Mast - part of Britain's early warning system erected in the 1950s. From here we reach the highest point of the walk, before descending to our start point with views opening up before us.
