Dog Friendly Pub walk; this partly circular walk makes use of the Canal Towpath Trail along the Shropshire Union Canal, and the return route starts along a section of The Baker Way trail. The pub is half way round the walk so plan your starting time to make it a good place to pause for a drink or a meal.

All of the paths are well used and most of them are surfaced and flat although a little uneven in places. The scenery along the canal is very attractive and quite varied. You can take a short detour to shops for ice cream when you reach the more modern Egg Bridge at Waverton.

There are no stiles, but the return route has some snickets and kissing gates. Dogs are allowed in the pub garden where they have picnic tables for meals, and in the bar area of the pub, which is the friendliest indoor environment for you and your four-legged friend to feel relaxed, safe, and happy at all times during your visit. They have water and treats available to ensure they're as comfortable as you are during your stay. If you book in advance you should be able to get a good meal with your pint; an excellent half-way break on a good walk. This walk includes instructions for walkers from moored canal and river boats.

The walk is suitable for children, teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Although it's excellent for dogs, it's hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies. Suitable footwear will be strong trainers, but boots will be best, especially in winter when parts of the return route are likely to be a bit muddy and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. On your route are bench seats, shops and of course, the pub with drinks and food.
