West Malling is a thriving, small market town in Kent with many historic buildings, including St Leonard's Tower, a Norman keep and an 11th Century abbey built for Benedictine nuns. There is a mainly Georgian High Street. Manor Park Country Park is located just to the south of the town, close to St Leonard's Tower and Douce's Manor, a Grade II* Georgian manor-house. There is an eco-friendly café called The Green Café at the car park. There are toilets behind the café. There are lots of restaurants and pubs in the high street, so a varied choice to be had if you fancy a meal or a snack.
Manor Park is a Site of Nature Conservation Interest with a variety of native trees and a lake. A pay-and-display car park operates throughout the year, seven days a week. Charges are: Monday - Friday £1.50; weekends and Bank holidays £2.00.
The walk progresses across varied terrain, including market-garden fields and through woodland. There are good views looking towards the North Downs. Eventually, you will reach the attractive village of Offham, with its village green and quintain and pretty houses.
