This walk takes you from the North Downs, down into the villages of Shere and Gomshall, then climbs back to the North Downs. An added interest is that it takes you past a part of Shere which was used in the filming of The Holiday and a cottage which is no longer there!

Walked 15.09.24 - The directions remain good. Photo updates submitted for the usual woodland changes that happen yearly. After point 3, when you descend you come to a split where there is a path to the left. Ignore this, keep straight to descend. In places, Ash Dieback has caused trees to fall, blocking the usual paths, but new paths have been trod around them. The general direction after point 3 is down the hill and there are fences both sides so you generally can't go astray. A lovely walk, good to get the heart pumping as there are some long sections of ascent that seem relentless but that's probably older age! Thanks Norman, a lovely walk in Surrey! 10/10

Walked 21.01.2023 Directions and photos remain current. Superb walk as ever with lovely views. Two sections with height gain but nothing too strenuous. The views are far reaching, paths are excellent, no livestock encountered at all. A great day walk in a magical part of Surrey. Thanks Norman, this walk continues to be a staple!

Walked 12.12.2020 Another fine walk from Norman Lavender, with good directions and a great deal of variety including extensive views, this is one not to be missed!. Boots are a must as it is very muddy in places but just adds to the fun! This area is simply stunning and draws you back time after time. Parking was easy and there is a snack wagon here most weekends. A big thank you to Norman for these walks, they are simply so rewarding and lovely. 10/10

Walked 12.12.2020. Yet another fine Norman Lavender Walk. This walk covers part of the route of walk 67 in reverse so it's lovely to see it from the other direction. This part of Surrey is so lovely it keeps you coming back for more. This is a stunning walk, really good distance, directions spot on. There is some height gain to keep you fit and stunning views throughout! Highly recommended. 10/10.

Walked this on a hot Sunday 11.05.2008. Not a bad walk at all. Mostly through some lovely woodland and very fragrant at this time of year. The views were not that extensive but there were some places where a good view was to be had. Watch out for the directions just after Shere church. When you reach the top of the footpath, turn left and do not continue up the hill with the fence on your right as we did. If you do, cross the railway line and when going through a gate turn immediately left and follow the path down to meet up with waypoint 9. Rated: 8/10.

Just a few clarification points: WP12 - There is a yellow public footpath sign at this point. WP13 - Ignore the yellow footpath sign a little further on, and continue along the bridleway straight ahead. WP15 - There is new fencing past Cole Kitchen farm. As a result the waypoint will look slightly different to the photograph; however the route to take is obvious.
