Weston-under-Penyard is a small village near Ross-on-Wye, The Penyard being a prominent hill to the south overlooking the village. The walk does not climb the hill, but instead takes a much gentler and easy-going route in the opposite direction to Hartleton Water, which consists of two large man-made lakes. The walk follows the entire length of both lakes, crossing the causeway that separates them in between. There is plenty to see here including the numerous birds that make the lake their home, boats and canoes from the outdoor centre on the shores of the lake, as well as some interesting sculptures overlooking the lake. A short section of the walk is along a fairly busy road with no pavement.
