Most of this walk takes place in the Weaver Parkway, the long landscaped hillside along the river Weaver valley; a delightful, picturesque walk on a sunny day with hard paths all the way. It is a very popular locality with the numerous local joggers and dog-walkers. There are several solid steel deep kissing gates, no roads and a good variety of scenery to enjoy, including a mile and a half of riverbank pathway. In summer you are likely to see narrowboats navigating this section of the river. There is a working salt mine on the opposite bank for part of the route, and there are several interesting historical information boards with old photos explaining its history. It may be a bit noisy weekdays so to get the most enjoyment if you prefer peace and quiet, reserve this walk for a fine weekend. This walk is a shorter alternative to walk 8354 and includes instructions for walkers from moored river boats.

It is suitable for children, senior citizens and anyone in-between. It will be excellent for dogs, good for buggies and a challenge for wheelchairs. They will need assistance up some of the slopes and occasional flights of long but shallow steps. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. The route is well provided with numerous benches and large blocks of stone for resting, and there are refreshments and picnic tables at the pub in Winsford. There are also refreshments at the pub at the walk start and finish; if you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal with a drink; an excellent finish to a good walk. There is also a big superstore very close to the start and finish which includes a good and cheap cafe.
