Walk starts from Whinlatter Forest Visitor Centre which has plenty of parking, toilets, shop and cafe. It follows well defines forest paths and roadways which are clearly marked and colour coded. This route is 'the green one', other less strenuous and shorter routes are available from starting points outlined on guide from the shop or notice boards.

The work climbs gently through the woodland to the high point of 'Seat How' which offers excellent views West down to Keswick and Derwent Water and nearby summits. It then descends gradually via more well marked paths back to the car park. A comfortable 2 hour walk on good paths, through substantial forest with excellent views.
