No climbing, of course; the spit is nowhere more than 2m high. Along the seaward side there is a sandy beach, while whins cover the gravel to landward. The westward end of the spit is overlooked by the (mothballed) McDermott Oil Fabrication Yard. There is talk of it being made into a marina...
To have a longer walk, begin at the start of Walk 848 and join this walk at Waymark 01; that gives a walk of eleven miles.
