Whittington, a Longer Canal Walk

The walk is based on Whittington Castle, which must be among the very few owned and run by a Community Trust. The walk is level, using quiet lanes, the towpath of the Shropshire Union Canal and pastures to make a circuit from a delightful village in an area used by few, except local, walkers. The section on the lane, used because of a lack of footpaths, will take about thirty minutes and this might not be to your taste. I found it pleasant and met very few vehicles in that time. Most of the route is extremely easy to follow, but there is an exception. This walk is an extended version of Walk 7035 and in the opposite direction.
