This is a lovely walk regardless of the weather. Currently the hall and country park are closed due to renovations, but due to reopen in late 2023. If the hall is open, you can spend some time at the beginning or end of the walk in the beautiful deer park. At the beginning of the walk an accessible path has been constructed, so a short walk can be carried out by wheelchair users, returning along Whitworth Road from the point where this walk joins the Auckland Way. The Auckland Way railway path, of which you cover a short section, is a walk in its own right. With its links to Bonnie Bobby Shafto, this is a walk for all ages.

Did this walk today. The Hall and Deer Park are closed so could not park there. There is a small car park off the main road but it was easier to park in Byers Green and follow the directions from there. It is a pleasant walk and the dogs enjoyed it.

No problems on this walk for our two small dogs as easily hoisted over any stiles. Shafto pub closed at this time but we take everything we need anyway.

Lovely little walk and the food in the Bobby Shafto pub is excellent.
