We walk along the rugged coast for a short way, where the beach may be visited before we descend through fields to the tranquil canal for a stroll along the flat towpath. Leaving the towpath, we now ascend through a newly-planted nature reserve, back to the coast path to see more of the rugged splendour of the North Cornish coast before regaining our transport.

This starts off as a nice easy walk, until point 6. The footbridge is non existent apart from one wooden plank. We actually missed it to start with as it is completely overgrown. The 'duckwalk' has rotted away with large sections missing - you need to stand on the rails which have nails sticking up where the duckboards once were. For the rest of the route to the start of point 8 the path is very difficult to follow as it is also overgrown. If you want to do this then take trekking poles, wear long trousers and long sleeves. It is definitely not an easy walk.
