Why not combine this walk with lunch at the King's Head and an afternoon at Market Rasen Races, which is just five minutes away?
The walk itself starts at the car park in Willingham Woods (www.willinghamwoods.com) and the first leg is through the tranquillity of this Forestry Commission woodland. From Willingham Woods, we take a good track towards the ridge which forms the western edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds and climb to meet the Viking Way at Risby.
The Viking Way is a national trail starting at the Humber Bridge and running down to Rutland Water and Oakham. We however, only follow it along the wolds and down to the pretty village of Tealby, where the route passes the thatched King's Head (the oldest pub in Lincolnshire), where you would be forgiven if you stopped off for an excellent lunch. And why not? From Tealby it's an easy walk over flat farmland back to Willingham Woods.
