Willoughby - Woolscott - Grandborough - Sawbridge - Willoughby

Two villages and two hamlets, just inside the Warwickshire border with Northamptonshire, are visited on this walk. Starting from the edge of Willoughby, the route stays on minor and single-track roads to the very pleasant setting of Woolscott, then on to the village of Grandborough, continuing to the tiny settlement of Sawbridge before returning to Willoughby from a different direction. The whole walk is very rural through farming country, with peaceful, tranquil scenes, the glory of nature all around. With no strenuous ascents to deter the unenergetic, this ramble will appeal to those looking for a good but easy walk in beautiful countryside.

It seems the helpful local was wrong - there is indeed a Sawbridge Street and a sign seems to have appeared. Nevertheless you do need to turn right there, not left, in order to get onto Granndborough Fields Road. This walk has been a godsend in the dreadful wet weather we've been having as it's entirely on country roads and I've now done it half a dozen times.

A very pleasant and easy walk along country lanes with very little traffic. One thing that amused me was the sight of a litter bin for dog muck, which would have been laudable had it not been for the fact that the road was absolutely smothered in horse muck! There's an error in the directions though. Point 4 tells you to turn right onto Sawbridge Street, a road that doesn't exist (and, according to a helpful local, never has). The name of the road is actually Mill Road (or it may have been Hill Road) and then you turn left onto Grandborough Fields Road, not Grandborough Road.
