This rather hilly walk first mounts the Cotswolds escarpment and then goes to the ruins of Hailes Abbey (National Trust). It next passes the pretty village of Farmcote before descending steeply back to Winchcombe, with magnificent views of the surrounding countryside.

Did this walk on 29/6/2011. Recorded 6.7 miles - 3hr 10 mins including coffee stop. The route is mostly well signed although the final section from pt 15 down the hill is not well waymarked. I suspect it is more problematic for those walking in reverse. As the author says though. Great views throughout.

Another excellent walk from John which we completed on 19/10/02.

Hailes Abbey is well worth a visit (free to NT members or £2.80 for adults) and it might even be worth reversing the walk so that you almost complete it there. Nice points to stop for a snack or lunch are a little light on the ground although just after point 15 (after going through the woods) is okay.
