From Wisley Common the walk passes the entrance to Wisley Gardens and continues to the Chatley Heath Semaphore Tower via Wisley Airfield. This is a former wartime airfield and was also used to test aircraft built at the nearby Vickers factory in Weybridge.

The Chatley Heath Semaphore Tower was part of a chain used to transfer messages between the Admiralty in Whitehall and the Royal Navy Dockyard in Portsmouth. It was operational between 1822 and 1847.

Thanks to Stephen Harris for reporting the path closure. I have now updated the walk taking into account Stephen's suggestion of deviating along the runway.

Unfortunately, at waypoint 13, the path is no longer accessible or even visible. We aborted the walk as it didn't bode well that the directions were wrong. Looking at the map, it looks like you can take a deviation along the runway but it would be good if the author can update this walk to take into consideration the blocked / non existing path at 13. Thanks
