Three attractive Cotswold villages are visited on this walk, all of which are on the River Coln. From Withington, the walk begins by climbing up onto a ridge overlooking the village and then following it to Foxcote. There are some great views in both directions as you walk along here.
You descend to Foxcote, a very small and quiet village that lies close to the source of the River Coln. The rest of the walk stays close to the river, but it is mostly out of sight until reaching Shipton, the third village on the walk. The village is approached through a beautiful garden, which the river flows through with a small waterfall. Further into the village, the river is crossed via a ford and the walk leaves the river briefly as it climbs over the top of a small hill.
