This walk starts with a delightful stretch of Fynn Valley with the river not much more than a stream. You then walk along well-maintained tracks, paths and a few country lanes to reach the splendid Akenham Church, very remote and well away from the nearest road, returning by more well-maintained paths to Witnesham. It is hard to believe, as you enjoy this quiet and gentle walk, that you are only a few miles from the centre of Ipswich. There is some road-walking involved but mainly all on quiet country lanes.
Between Waymarks 23 and 24 as you get about halfway across the field in the midst of this agricultural diligence, there is a rectangle of neatly mowed grass. This is dedicated for use by a radio-controlled model aeroplane group. You may well see them in action as I did on a Sunday.
All paths were clear and dry when this walk was revised (May 2022).
