This is a circular walk with lots of variety en-route. Starting at the station, you soon follow a delightful, enclosed path along The Wivenhoe Trail before walking on a high banked path beside the River Colne. Eventually you turn inland passing through a housing estate, and then you will be following field paths, country lanes, a section through a disused quarry and a lovely stretch through Cockaynes Wood before returning to the River Colne and making your way back to the station.
For refreshments there is a food shop and The Horse and Groom pub at waymark 9, and two more pubs near the end. A couple of paths have been diverted but following the directional arrows on the waymark photos, you will be fine. A lovely family walk for all to enjoy.
