A very flat walk, half of which explores the lanes and denes through the relatively new townships of Newton Aycliffe and Woodham and the other half takes to the fields to the north of the town, passing around Windlestone Hall and Estate.
The walk starts from Woodham Village, a virtual suburb of the much larger Newton Aycliffe. The initial route passes along a leafy lane, then emerges along a pavement to leave the built-up area and head north to enter a wide lane that continues up to the area around Windlestone Hall. A little road-walking follows before the route tracks the perimeter wall of the hall to head south along lanes and through fields, to emerge back into the new township of Newton Aycliffe. The remainder of the walk involves exploring the lanes and paths of the new town with a visit to a picturesque open green area with a couple of large landscaped lakes followed by a very picturesque walk through a tree-lined dene. The final short lap is along the last of the many tree-lined lanes to return to the car park in Woodham Village.
