Our route takes us along the tarmac paths that run alongside the lake of the Queen Elizabeth II Country Park to the Woodhorn Mining Museum (see 'Additional Information'), where a narrow-gauge railway, children's play area, gift shop, cafe and toilets can also be found.

For shorter route walkers we leave here to return to the car park, or for the longer route we proceed on to Woodhorn Village. Here another museum at the church can be visited before returning to the car park, where the Woodhorn Grange pub welcomes us.
