Much of this walk is within the Blenheim Park Estate on hard tracks, although it does venture on paths and bridleways through fields and meadows, to and from the village of Combe. There is much to see and enjoy throughout the whole route, from historic Woodstock with its royal associations, through the breathtakingly beautiful, vast palace grounds, (nearly 1,800 acres) with huge lake and abundance of wildfowl and the 134ft high 'Column of Victory'. After leaving the estate the short distance to Combe is quiet and rural with long views and the village itself is interesting, with a fine church and good pub, Cotswold stone cottages and houses. The many very pleasant aspects of this walk make it enjoyable at any time of the year.

July 2014 We recently completed this walk. We had tickets for Blenheim from a visit earlier in the year- visit once and convert it to an annual ticket- so we parked in the palace grounds and picked the walk up at wm6. Take your camera! So many fantastic photo opportunities. We had our picnic lunch in the church yard at Combe overlooking the cricket field. A great walk.

Great walk - did this in mid December and really enjoted the views and the wildlife! Few minor comments: a) Blenheim Palace uses black discs with white arrows on them to indicate pathway direction. Between warmarks 4 and 8 - these were very thin on the ground but were common from 17 onwards. Could someone in the know contact the Estate about rectifying this. Waymark 6 - there are 2 paths - aim for the one on the hugher ground which has the wooden fencing initially on both sides. Waymark 18 - go up first bank to right - could do with a route marker! Waymark 21 - Only cross at designated stiles - fence is electrified. I missed out on a visit to the pub but grabbed some lunch in the Fish and Chip shop mentioned in Waymark 1. PS Car Parking in the Hensington Road Car park is completely free - quite rare nowadays!
